Boghead Bridge Road closed immediately after structural damage found
DfI has shut a section of the road in Lower Ballinderry on safety grounds, with assessments under way and no reopening date announced.
A section of Boghead Bridge Road in Lower Ballinderry has been closed with immediate effect after engineers identified damage affecting the bridge structure, the Department for Infrastructure says.
The department’s announcement on Tuesday 3 November follows reports of damage to Boghead Road Bridge. It says the closure was imposed to protect road users.
Engineers are carrying out detailed structural assessments to establish the extent of the damage and determine what work is needed. DfI says it will be able to give further information about proposed works and timescales once those assessments are complete.
Local diversions use the U1005 Diamond Lane, C10 Brankinstown Road and the U1004 off Brankinstown Road. Drivers should follow the diversion signs, take care and allow extra time.
The announcement does not give a reopening date, identify the cause of the damage or define the closure’s precise endpoints.
