U.M.I. Foods Ltd admitted two safety offences at Newry Magistrates' Court on Monday.
U.M.I. Foods Ltd has been fined £10,000 after admitting two safety offences following an incident at its Armagh premises.
The case was heard at Newry Magistrates' Court on Monday 2 November. An employee suffered partial amputations to three fingers when her hand contacted a mushroom dicing machine's blades at Edenaveys Industrial Estate on 21 February 2023.
HSENI said inspectors found a missing bolt on the front chute guard. The worker had joined less than a month earlier and had received no formal health and safety induction.
The company admitted offences concerning employee safety and machinery training, receiving a £5,000 fine for each.
HSENI issued notices requiring safer machinery arrangements and better training. The company subsequently complied with both notices.
