Police warn families after needle reported in Rathfriland Halloween chocolate
PSNI says no injuries have been reported and urges parents to inspect treats before children eat them.
Police have appealed for parents, guardians and carers to check Halloween sweets after a wrapped chocolate bar was reportedly found to contain a sewing needle in the Rathfriland area.
PSNI says officers received the report on Tuesday 3 November. No injuries had been reported when the appeal was published.
The force advises checking wrapped and unwrapped treats for torn packaging, pinholes and broken seals before consumption. Anyone finding suspicious items or signs of tampering should stop handling them and contact police immediately.
The appeal concerns a reported incident. It does not establish contamination of a particular brand or all sweets collected locally.
