£1.95m announced for endometriosis services across Northern Ireland
The Health Department says funding will support two regional centres, strengthen services in all five trusts and introduce a new regional pathway.
The Department of Health has announced a £1.95 million first-phase investment in endometriosis services across Northern Ireland.
Of that total, £700,000 is allocated to the Regional Endometriosis Centres in the Belfast and Western trusts. A further £1.25 million is to be distributed equally across the five health trusts to improve local services and support a new Regional Endometriosis Pathway.
The department says 130 patients requiring complex surgery have undergone robotic-assisted surgery since a dedicated gynaecology platform began operating at Belfast City Hospital in May.
Its figures also show the Northern Ireland gynaecology outpatient waiting list fell from 54,770 in September 2025 to 47,318 in September 2026. The announcement does not give a patient-by-patient timetable for accessing the new funding.
